Very old Grenache grown on volcanic soil from Faugères. Grapes here spend 3 months macerating in whole clusters before being pressed off into fiberglass tanks for 1 year. What we have here is essentially a Pinot of Grenache. An ethereal, high-energy wine, with depth usually reserved for much fuller bodied, higher alcohol wines. Prickly raspberry bush, earth tones, and dried herbs. Absolutely explosive with a dichotomy between the depth of expression and vibrant energy. Challenging our notion of Grenache altogether.
