Sometimes you need a bold wine. When garlic is involved, when a pizza arrives hot and dripping, or when cool nights beckon you onto the porch. For these times I have created “Not Cringey”. Its bold but not huge. The fruitiness is driven by an abundance of acid, which keeps it light on its feet and easily enjoyed.
The Zinfandel is grown at Connor Vineyard and the Primitivo at Hodge. Both vineyards are located on the Kubli Bench in Applegate Valley and are LIVE farmed. The diurnal shift in temperature preserves acid and in my opinion makes some of the most interesting red wines in the world.
Fruit goes whole cluster into fermenters and is trodden daily until dry. We then press into neutral French oak barrels where it aged for 12 months. We added a small amount of sulphites at bottling but otherwise, we had no other interventions.
Rich red fruit with raspberry and blackberry lead with anise, black pepper and earth on the finish. Slight creaminess and dark red fruit on the nose.
